Re: Introduce Yourself Here

Hi JonSeven!

It's great to see another enthusiastic A Song of Ice and Fire fan find their way here. Welcome to our community.

Ideas are always good so feel free to offer any thoughts you have. If it's something we can get excited about and work into the game, mores the better!

You're welcome to help around here if you see something you can assist with. We're all volunteers here after all. smile ATM, we're primarily focused on building content and writing quests/storylines. We don't have any community/PR reps, so if you have any experience doing that kind of thing, just let me know.

Thanks.

Re: Introduce Yourself Here

Hello all. My name is Lawrence and I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota, US. I am a long time pen and paper RPer and I have played various MMOs. I was a paid event moderator for Ultima Online for a couple of years (like a GM in NWN designing adventures and playing various roles in game).

I run an RP guild in World of Warcraft (Dugald, GM of The Stormwind Guard on Earthen Ring), but as you may guess, RP in a massive game like Warcraft has limitations and the immersion tends to be broken by the majority of players who do not RP (even on RP servers).

I am a fan of Martin's books and world. I particularly enjoy the low fantasy/low magic feudal setting. Game worlds full of planetouched winged half dragon, half cat girl, half vampire characters bedecked in godly magic armor and weapons tends to put me off quickly.

I am available to play test as needed. Message me if you need me for any specific times.

Now you know why you must live.
"Why?" Bran said, not understanding, falling, falling.
Because winter is coming.

Re: Introduce Yourself Here

Hi Lawrence. It's great to have another veteran role player in our community. I think you'll find that most of us here have that in common, along with an acute interest in GRRM's Song of Ice and Fire setting. smile

Make yourself at home. If you have any thoughts or ideas you wish to share, by all means share them. Once we start incorporating systems into the world, we'll very much need capable testers to iron out the issues so I appreciate the advance offer. smile

Re: Introduce Yourself Here

Hello everyone,

My name is Dan and I live in Rochester, Minnesota, USA.  I have played D&D for 10+ years and online RPGs all the way back to the days when you used to have to dial up your local BBS to connect to a MUD.  I have been waiting for AGOT or ASOIAF NWN mod for a while, glad to see that another one has popped up.  There was one that kind of popped up around the time when NWN2 first came out, but I never got a chance to play on it, not even sure if the server ever went live.  Anyway, kudos to all of you and I hope to see you in the game!

Re: Introduce Yourself Here

Hi Dan,

Another Minnesotan! Welcome! smile

There was indeed a Westeros project that started out for NWN2 a while back but eventually switched to NWN1. It's a defunct project now. I don't believe they managed to ever put up a server either.

But we've got a good crew here; three veteran NWN builders with a real desire to see Westeros come to life. We'll be starting out with the North and the Iron Islands with King's Landing to follow. And if the interest is there, other regions will follow.

See you at the wall. smile

Re: Introduce Yourself Here

Hi all,
Just wanted to stop by and introduce myself. You can call me ink for now, Ive been playing on the NWN2 PW servers and saw that the GoT was finally updated to 1.22+. So I wanted to give it a try from when I first saw it listed as alpha, I am a big fan of the series. I used worldgate to download the (huge) file and tried to log in after character creation. Sadly it told me it failed to load the module.
I'm a bit dissapointed because Ive been eager to see your rendition of Westeros. I am fully patched with Worldgate 8, MoTB and Soz Installed. Maybe its the Soz expansion, I dont know.

Please let me know what I'm doing wrong, Im interested in your PW and am horrendously bored with Forgotten realms server.
All the best,
Ink

Re: Introduce Yourself Here

Hello everyone,

I am a veteran PnP RPer and NWN gamer. I used to DM a lot for NWN, but I stopped as life got busier.

I did a search for local vault servers just to see what was out and about, and I saw this server. I love this setting, and I feel like great RP could take place in it.

I especially like the feel of high stakes political games. I tried it once on a NWN1 server and I loved it... until I found out that the DMs and staff would not allow a change in the status quo.

I don't feel like that will be a problem here.

Given all of that, what made me *have* to sign up and contribute was your rules. Finally a server without a laundry list of silly rules. We players can regulate ourselves!

I'm afraid I can't help with any building or scripting, but at least you can count on me as another player!

Re: Introduce Yourself Here

Welcome Cowbot! I'm happy to see someone appreciates our minimalist rules. big_smile

Glad to have another veteran RPer aboard. Once we have a LIVE server running, just playing will be plenty contribution enough. We've got an excellent team ATM, and often times having too many chefs just spoils the broth! So no need to worry - just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Re: Introduce Yourself Here

Hey all.  I found out about this PW by simply looking for PW's through NWN 2.  I have been a fan of the books for a while, and love the idea of what you are doing here.  Everything I have read seems to be staying true to the books.  I love the fact that you have created Westeros based classes.

I hope to pop into the world and take a look around, as soon as Worldgate is done downloading the files. smile

I also plan on letting all of my friends, who also love the books, know about this project!

Looking forward to walking the paths of Westeros.
